About Me
Hi, My name is Mickey. I began my training in 1965 under the banner of Thomas Connors Traco Int. and was promoted to 4th Degree Senior instructor in 2011 by the International Kenpo Karate Academies. I know, big gap. It’s a long story that I Would love to share anytime. Just email, call, or even friend me. anyway, after Spending many years sampling other martial arts flavors. I have returned to my Roots. And have discovered that my true love is American Kenpo. In 1976 I was recognized as Si-Jo of the Yuan-Tien-Hseuh system of Self-defense by Master Charles A. Dixon of the international Shinjimasu Black Belt Association. (Master Dixon and I worked together for a time in The mid 70s) Yuan-Tien-Hseuh is a system that has its roots in Kenpo and Wing-Chun. The focus is on speed, evading, trapping, and continuous counter attack. I love being an instructor and teaching is at the very core of who I am. for me there is nothing like the feeling I get when a student gets excited because they have discovered that one technique flowes right into another, or that moment when they make their first break. I guess I just love teaching and sharing the art. for me teaching is to know the art on the most personal level. After spending over 37 years as an instructor I enjoy teaching smaller classes with a more personal feel these days. With that goal in mind. I have founded the Dragons Lair Martial Arts Club, in Wheat Ridge CO. not a large franchise. but an "old fashioned martial arts Club”, where members are encouraged to focus on the journey, not the destination.
May we always be reminded that rank does not confer power, Nor does it give privilege. Rather, it imposes responsibility. Si-Jo Geer Post a CommentOops! The words you entered did not match the given text. Please try again. 1 CommentLoading...
