Over the years I have watched many Kenpo stylist cross train in other styles some like myself have garnered black belts in other styles in addition to kenpo. though it has been years since the attainment of my black belts in Judo and shotokan. I ask myself today why I did it. None of them held my interest as long as kenpo has.

Years later I am just as committed to Kenpo if not more than I have ever been. As an instructor at the YMCA i taught several classes besides Kenpo, a judo and jujutsu programs as well. Though I enjoyed them my first love was Kenpo. I am no longer involved or practice my other styles because of the many challenges that Kenpo seems to bring me. This is something that intriques me. Even though I teach kenpo I see myself exactly the way I saw myself over 33 years ago when I started training in Kenpo.......as a student of the art.

Today I teach only one style and that is Kenpo. Kenpo has seemed to answer all my questions. It seems to be a singular art that truly has an answer for everything  or in the least has a blue print to find the answers.

I was watching the movie Young Guns over the week end and one of the young guns was explaining that when things escalated and they had to take action that it felt like they had gotten caught up in a whirl wind. A force of nature. I think that is what true Kenpo is.... a whirl wind, a force of nature.
